Community-based rehabilitative programs have been shown to create the greatest reduction in recidivism rates by the CA Dept. of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s own findings. These programs create a better quality of life and a safer environment not just for the people who are incarcerated, but for staff and officers as well. They reduce crime and increase public safety by reducing intergenerational cycles of harm. These program save tax payers money by reducing direct incarceration costs and greater social costs of lost economic contributions or costs paid for courts, legal process, survivor support.
